In 2018, GEM Camera Club celebrates 25 years of actively supporting and encouraging avid photographers in the Perth Hills and surrounding areas.
Over that time, technical advances in photography have seen a transition from the use of film, with the anticipation that a great shot was achieved and having to wait for the development of the film to see it, to a digital age where we can view our images immediately. We are now able to take as many photos as we want often hoping the latest camera can take six or more shots in a second. It is easier to capture the moment and share it on social media instantly, instead of the slide show nights of the past.
Creative photography is another way for avid photographer’s to express themselves with a camera, and the editing formats readily available through the internet mean there is almost no limitation to what can be achieved with knowledge and skill.
Even with the ease of using the camera on devices such as: smart phones; tablets; point and shoot cameras; or, the best DSLR with the biggest lens possible, getting the great shot still requires the same principles of photography that were used when film was loaded into the back of a camera.
At GEM Camera Club, we acknowledge these changes and ensure that what we provide as a club furthers your passion for photography. We welcome new members, whether you are a total newbie or an advanced enthusiast, to join in with other like-minded photographers and hone your skills and knowledge to achieve your photographic aspirations.
To join GEM Camera Club, click on the MEMBERSHIP tab in the main menu above; or if not sure, come and visit on one of our club nights to help you decide – either way we would welcome your participation.
